The Mac Mini currently has El Capitan installed, plus when I upgraded to El Cap, I saved the installer. I tried to just run that from the Mac Mini with the OWC SSD hooked up via USB. It starts, checks the external drive, begins to install, and then stops at different points. Sometimes it stops when it has to reboot. If you are booted to the 'option-boot' screen, try unplugging, then re-inserting your bootable USB flash drive. Give it a minute or two to do something, then pull it again, re-insert. Then, boot up to your normal boot drive, and check to see if that flash drive will appear in your Startup Disk preference pane. El Capitan disk has an embbed security certificate that has expired in 2016. Just change your system date, let's say to, install El Capitan, then change the date back to today. El Capitan Installer Won't Open
I have a Mac mini with OS 10.6.8, 2 GB of memory and 58GB of storage available on the hard drive.
I am trying to update to OSX El Capitan so I can download the latest version of iTunes (My iPhone 6 upgraded to the latest iOs9 on 10/1/15 and now my current version of iTunes can't see my phone because my phone needs the latest version of ITunes and the latest version of iTunes won't work with OS 10.6.8).
El Capitan Failed To Install
When I try to upgrade to El Capitan, I get the message that 'this version of OSx 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer' but no further information as to why not. Any ideas?
